Werewolves, Shapeshifters and The Wrestler

I woke up on saturday morning thinking that I would have a quiet, relaxing day at home. That notion was short-lived. I was informed that some of the cast of True Blood was appearing at a horror convention called Horrorfind in Gettysburg. It was at the Wyndham Hotel – only 5 minutes away. Being a major fan of True Blood, I knew I had to go. How could I not?

I go to the Wyndham, buy my ticket to the event and made my way to the celebrity rooms. Aside from seeing the True Blood cast, Rowdy Roddy Piper was also there. I know him mainly from his wrestling days in the 80s. Obviously he was at Horrorfind because of his appearances in several horror films, most notably 1988′s “They Live“. I got in line to meet him first.

Roddy was a very personable guy which was not surprising at all. We reminisced about the WWE’s broadcast stages from a syndicated weekend 1 hour show to the eventual placement on the USA network. Roddy’s line about Gettysburg as I departed: “I’m going to find a cannon to blow up”.

After meeting Roddy, I took some time to walk around the event. I suppose if I was into horror stuff, It would have looked like a big candy store to me. However, I soaked it in as I prepared to go stand in line to see the main attraction as far as I was concerned: the cast of True Blood.

True Blood actors scheduled to appear during the 3-day festival included Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Brit Morgan (Debbie Pelt), Ashley Jones (Daphne Landry) and William Sanderson (Sheriff Bud Dearborne). There was no sign of William Sanderson while I was there. I was not disappointed though.

I had a great conversation with Brit. She was very enthusiastic and engaging. Sam was very cool. I complimented his acting skills (he’s one of the best actors on True Blood). My personal highlight was making Sam & Brit laugh as I described how I reacted to a recent scene on the show. Last, but not least, I spoke to Ashley. Very classy woman. She had a small role in the new comedy classic “Old School“. She’s most known for being on soap opera series The Bold and the Beautiful.

Technical difficulties with my camera aside, I had a fanatasic time getting to talk the True Blood cast. My two favorite drama shows currently on TV are Breaking Bad & True Blood. Now all I have to do is find a convention with the cast of Breaking Bad!
